Federal fishing regulators aren't doing enough to reduce what's known
as "bycatch"--that is, fish that are caught inadvertantly and thrown
out. That's according to a new report by a coalition of environmental
and conservation groups. At a Portland news conference this morning,
members of the "Marine Fish Conservation Network" claimed that such
"collateral damage" amounts to hundreds of millions of pounds a year in
the New England ground fishery alone. Barbara Cariddi reports.
